DUTIES: Ticket Clerks will be proficient in the preparation of Amtrak tickets and will have a thorough understanding of tariffs so that tickets will be priced properly. Make ticket reports promptly and properly safeguard company funds and preparation of reports related thereto. Baggageperson will check, receive, handle and deliver checked baggage and express and get baggage and express on and off the trains when necessary. Baggageperson will be proficient in the preparation of all types of baggage checking and shipment forms, have a thorough understanding of tariffs and reports. Janitorial duties as assigned and other related duties at the station as assigned by supervisors.
EDUCATION: Must have high school diploma or GED. Must be capable in basic math.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Some experience dealing directly with customers required. Computer experience, prior experience working with cash transactions preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be in good physical condition. Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. Must pass a written test. Must have viable transportation.
COMMUNICATION AND
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must be able to communicate with the public on a one to one basis, must possess good oral and written communication skills.
COMMENTS: Area of responsibility includes the Albany, Hudson, Rhinecliff, Schenectady and Saratoga stations.
TRAVEL: 45%
