SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Manager, Release and Configuration Management, is directly responsible for implementing and managing Amtraks release management, software configuration management, change management and other ITIL-based processes supporting all mission-critical business systems within the Marketing and Product Development IT portfolio. Mainframe and distributed applications within the portfolio include, Amtrak.com, Kiosk Point of Sale (Quik-Trak), Station and Contact Center Agent Point of Sale Systems, Call Center Systems (Voice Response Unit - VRU, Automated Call Directors ACD), Customer/CRM Systems, Rail Reservation Systems, Revenue/Pricing Management, Service Management Reporting Tools, and Onboard Food and Beverage Point of Sale Systems to name a few.
With the renewed focus and momentum on passenger rail, Amtrak is aggressively moving forward with a multi-year plan to drive a strong ITIL-based service management approach in aligning with and supporting the achievement of business goals. In addition, Amtrak is significantly enhancing many of these mission-critical systems and desires to utilize a state-of-the-art services model approach to leverage common processes and services (ITIL-based) to support world-class on-going delivery and maintenance.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology Management, or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Masters degree in related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale and complex application/software service management based delivery, support and maintenance; 5-7+ years in technical/engineering environment.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: A strong team and customer focused IT leader with a demonstrated ability to manage a significant release, configuration management and service delivery function.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises 5-10 Amtrak employees.
TRAVEL: 5%
