INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICANTS
DUTIES: Develop maintenance procedures, methods, and engineering specifications necessary for the maintenance of the locomotives within the Mechanical Department, New York Division. Apply electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and/or hydraulic theory and related knowledge to diagnose, test and repair the propulsion and auxiliary equipment (brakes, cab signal) related to the Amtrak train sets; recommended repairs and establishes procedures for preventive maintenance and address design defects; define and implement modifications to the maintenance plans, and update the maintenance plans in spear; perform analysis for management on equipment reliability and service issues. Responsible for developing and/or modifying work practices to improve equipment reliability.
EDUCATION: Must have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field. Prefer Masters, or equivalent in Engineering, Administration or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or work experience
WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have demonstrated experience in transportation, aeronautical, or major electronic equipment to include experience in modifying and maintaining existing vehicles of long-lived, capital equipment. Prefer significant experience in transportation, aeronautical, or major electronic equipment to include experience in modifying and maintaining existing vehicles of long-lived capital equipment. Prior satisfactory job performance required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must possess demonstrated experience in Amtrak, VIA Rail, EMU commuter rail, or class 1 railway rolling stock maintenance in technical roles involving inspections, commissioning new rolling stock, trouble shooting and turnaround servicing on late model diesels-electric or turbine-electric hydraulic locomotives.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
