Position Title: Facilitator Safe-2-Safer, Mechanical

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Steering Committee Facilitator position will be an advocate and leader in safety and will be responsible for leading the Mid-Atlantic Division Safety Steering Committees for Mechanical. Responsible for design, development and implementation of a behavior-based safety process/plan. Serve as the Chair of, and coordinate, the local Division Steering Committee meetings. Help lead team in Behavior Extraction/SBI creation process. Help prepare SBI training program for Division population. Coordinate presentation of training to Division population. Ensure Committee members are appropriately trained and understand the various tasks. Monitor and encourage Committee member participation.

EDUCATION: Must have a high school diploma or GED.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Must be a union member in good standing. Previous demonstrated related work experience.

PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE: Previous experience leading teams.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must maintain a good working relationship with local union officials and local safety committees. Possess a good understanding of safety principles, methods and processes in the workplace. Must possess strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach others and sustain teamwork.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Will supervise Steering Committee members.

COMMENTS: Position is open to all craft employees. Assignment is for a 2-year period.

SALARY RANGE: The successful candidate will be paid at the bulletined rate for their current position on a 50-hour straight time rate per week, except for any ARASA, BRS and/or BMWE Safety Liaisons selected as facilitators who maintain their Safety Liaison position, who will continue to be paid as per existing agreements.
