AMTRAK EMPLOYEES MUST SUBMIT A JOB OPPORTUNITY APPLICATION NRPC FORM 1764 TO BE CONSIDERED.
DUTIES: Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs of an electrical nature to all passenger cars, locomotives and baggage equipment in accordance with standard practices while adhering to all Amtrak, FRA and EPA requirements. Must be able to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams and wiring blueprints. Must have a through knowledge of electrical systems of electric and diesel electric locomotives and passenger coaches. Must be able to troubleshoot electrical problems, cab signal problems and make necessary repairs. Must have the knowledge and ability to perform load testing locomotives. Must have basic knowledge of motors, generators, contractors, cab signal, head-end power and electrical control equipment. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Must have HS Diploma or GED Equivalent
EDUCATION: Preferred Technical school or Journeyman Electrician Qualification preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have some years experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Prefer some years experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have prior satisfactory job performance. Dexterity in motion due to bending, climbing and reaching to perform work assignments.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must be able to read and speak English Language. Must have good oral and written communication skills.
