The closing date for this position is November 25, 2009. The rate of pay for this position is $18.71-$24.94 per hour.
Summary of Duties:
Conducts running repair, inspection, and preventive maintenance work. Interprets MAP (Maintenance Analysis Program) forms on car equipment to determine corrective actions in accordance with FRA/Amtrak guidelines. Responsible for air brake inspections and door/equipment tests. Maintains skill levels with hand, electrical, and specialty tools for specific application. Maintains overall qualification in Mechanical Systems and Pneumatic Equipment/Systems. Completes reports on corrective action for sign-off including the MAP form. Works within the guidelines of the System Safety Program by being alert to physical hazards which affect operations, including the modification, recognition, or cessation of operations when conditions exist or could develop that would conflict with a safe operating environment for Amtrak or others. Performs other duties as assigned inclusive of operating company motor vehicles.
Education:
Must have high school education or equivalent. Prefer Certificates/Licenses: Passenger Single Car Air Brake Tests (Freight- Selected Positions), AMT ll Class B, CFR 238 Interior/Exterior Mechanical Inspection
Work Experience:
Must have some equivalent experience. Prefer equipment/system specifications, HAZCOM, Hydraulic Equipment operation, PFT Respirator.
Other Requirements:
Electric, air, battery operated drills, Power Tool operation, MAP/Federal forms/CFR 49
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Must be able to read, speak and understand English.
