SUMMARY OF DUTIES: This position performs as a quantitative leader in the organization, helping to create new analytics that drive the business forward in ways that are consistent with the departments goals. The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for:
1. Directly supporting the role of Product Development in providing appropriate Customer Service Performance metrics, in particular those mandated by PRIIA Section 207, to the Division staffs.
2. Providing support services to the user community of the Customer Service Performance Metrics Integrator (CSPMI) system. The CSPMI system is a business intelligence platform based on Business Objects. The application provides customer service performance metrics to various management levels across Amtrak. In this role, the incumbent will work closely with the CSPMI user community to identify users analysis and reporting needs, perform data quality validation and respond to users reporting requests. The incumbent will also assist in training CSPMI users to develop and maintain their ad-hoc reports.
3. Design, development and rollout of new analytics, decision support applications and statistical/Operations Research models to various departments across Amtrak in order to improve efficiency and customer service delivery.

EDUCATION: Masters Degree or MBA in a quantitative discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience and proficiency in data visualization and use of business intelligence/reporting tools. Prefer experience with Business Objects Web Intelligence reporting and Business Objects Xcelsius. Must have programming experience in SQL and .NET. Requires experience in one or more of the following: C++/C#, VB, VBA, XML and web development. Demonstrated experience using Visio, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.

PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE: Experience or familiarity with service industry or some years of rail-related experience. Good knowledge and working experience in KPIs, statistics and reports used in the service industry. Experience in the use of statistical and optimization packages (OPL/CPLEX, SAS, etc). Experience with simulation, linear programming, modeling/forecasting.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Ability to express complex analytical and technical information to management or to non-technical audiences. Ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organization.
