POSITION: Substation Electrician Trainee (4)
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
LOCATION: New York, NY
SALARY: $22.27 per hour

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICANTS
DUTIES: Electrician Substations. Constructs, installs, maintains, repairs and tests Substation switching apparatus, control cables and associated equipment and other duties as assigned. Must be able to climb to heights of 100 feet and obtain a CDL within the first 90 days of employment. Must be able to understand, speak, and write the English language fluently. Must pass satisfactory examinations in accordance with the Electrician Traction training agreement.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Formal electrical training is preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Basic electrical knowledge coupled with the desire to learn. The ability to respond to railroad concerns on a 24hr basis.
PREFFERED: Basic Electrical theory, knowledge of electric components and use of various electrical testing devices. Climbing and riggings experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have valid driver's license on date of hire. Candidate must be able to acquire a commercial drivers license within first 90 days of hire. Prior satisfactory job performance is required.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Will be placed in a training program & must excel through all stages of training. Communication skills of the English language included reading and writing is mandatory.
