The closing date for this position is November 20, 2009. The rate of pay for this position is $14.78 per hour.
Summary of Duties:
Responsible for coach cleaning assignments on passenger cars in accordance with Amtrak Mechanical Departments Bureau of Standards and Compliance. Maintains qualifications to perform cleaning assignments. Uses chemical cleaners, equipment and materials in accordance with EPA, OSHA and HAZCOM guidelines and procedures. Performs car watering, cleans car exteriors, removes trash, sweeps, mops, services/disinfects toilets, vacuums, details steps, vestibules, luggage racks, ceilings, walls, windows and other cleaning as assigned. Works within guidelines of the system safety program by being alert to physical hazards which could affect operation, including the modification, recognition or cessation of operation when conditions exist or could develop that would conflict with a safe operating environment. Must have good visual acuity, including ability to distinguish colors, depth perception and peripheral vision, plus normal night vision. Position requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching and kneeling (34-67% of tour of duty). Position requires carrying/lifting and pushing/pulling heavy items. Position requires repetitive use of arms, hands and shoulders and wrists.
Education:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience:
Must have some relevant experience. Prefer some professional cleaning experience.
Other Requirements:
Must be physically able to perform the above duties. Must be able to work from written assignment sheet and sign off work completed on printed forms.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
