Position Summary:
Responsible for the real-time management and coordination of the day-to-day train operations of 70+ corridor/long distance trains & 300+ bus schedules in the west. Must communicate with CNOC for all unusual occurrences/disruptions. Coordinates emergency bus connections as necessary. Will maintain authorizations notices for Amtrak thruway and emergency service. Coordinates messages in PIDS and ARROW. Monitors railroad DigiCon systems to track Amtrak train operations and communicates with train/station personnel, OBS, mechanical, host railroad supervision/state agencies to ensure on time performance and customer service goals are met. Responsible for issuing timely notification to field management, train operations activity in each division via messaging system. Oversees all West delay reports entered in ARROW. Works in a team environment & provides leadership and direction to fellow employees.
Education:
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Prefer BS in business administration, operations management, transportation management or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Work Experience:
Must have demonstrated operations experience and/or transportation experience. Prefer extensive operations and/or transportation experience. Working knowledge of Amtrak system train routes, ARROW, fare tariffs, railroad operations, practices and restrictions affecting train movement.
Other Requirements:
General knowledge of mechanical aspects of Amtrak equipment. Must be analytical with problem-solving capabilities. Demonstrated computer skills include Microsoft Office Products, FIS, and ARROW.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Amtrak and railroad management; ability to work under pressure within time constraints.
