The closing date for this position is November 11, 2009. The rate of pay for this position is $18.32 per hour.
Summary of Duties:
This position covers vacancies at the Portland, Salem, OR and Vancouver, WA stations for the Station Agent (FC), Ticket Clerk, Crew Assignment Clerk. The position works extra when not covering a regular position. Provides customer service through interaction with the public in person and by telephone. Daily duties comprise selling tickets, quoting fares, checking baggage, and handling express. All transactions are conducted using Amtrak Stars system for sales and accounting. Handling baggage by lifting, moving, and carrying baggage to cargo carriers and onboard the baggage car on trains. In the winter months, station employees perform snow and ice removal. Must be able to lift heavy items, climb ladders into baggage cars, and operate tow tractors and snow removal equipment.
Education:
Must have a high school education or equivalent. Prefer two years of college.
Work Experience:
Must have cash handling, accounting, customer service in sales, equipment operation (small tractors). Prefer experience in the above in excess of three years.
Other Requirements:
Must have a valid drivers license. Perform laborer and janitorial duties daily.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Good customer communication skills when handling sales transactions and service disruptions.
Comments:
This position may travel to work in Vancouver, WA and Salem, OR.
