The closing date for this position is November 10, 2009. The rate of pay for this position is $12.24 per hour.
Summary of Duties:
Provides vacancy coverage for positions assigned to the Portland Baggage Room and Red Cap positions. Guaranteed Extra Board employees also act as additional support for seasonal, peak periods, and group moves within Portland metropolitan area (two stations). Performs all the duties of the baggage and red cap positions covered. These duties include: checking baggage, operating tow tractors, operating forklifts, loading and unloading baggage, package express and company material on and off trains. Receive, weigh, and prepare package express for trains and deliver express received. Perform janitorial duties and other station labor duties as needed or required.
Education:
Must have a high school education or equivalent. Prefer two years of college in transportation or customer service studies.
Work Experience:
Must have two years in customer service, retail, or hotel/travel industry. Prefer airline, bus or related experience in baggage operation.
Other Requirements:
Must be able to lift and move heavy items. Must have a valid drivers license.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
Travel:
5 percent
Comments:
This position works during the Thanksgiving/Christmas period and in the summer. It is subject to furlough and recall in accordance with the current union agreement.
