SUMMARY OF DUTIES: This position is responsible for graphic design support and the use of design identity elements to ensure consistent brand use throughout Amtrak on all Corporate materials. The Graphic Specialist will provide a wide range of services for Amtrak nationwide. Services provided include design, design standards, logo design, booklet/brochure layout and design, concept development and general project management.
Successful applicant will have the following skills:
-Strong knowledge of design (packaging design, brochure design, advertising design, etc.);
-Working knowledge of typography;
-Working knowledge of brand identity;
-Knowledge and skills on Mac OSX system with a general knowledge of PC environment;
-Knowledge of Pantone Matching System for all color production.

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Advertising, Graphic Design or Commercial Art, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

WORK EXPERIENCE: An equivalent combination of education, training, and some years real-time work experience in related field supporting design or communication firms, marketing groups/divisions, or identity corporations; working closely with Project Managers, Project Leaders, Creative Directors and/or Art Directors.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have excellent organization skills and ability to troubleshoot minor MAC issues. Must be able to meet deadlines in a timely fashion while working under stress. Must be able to manage multiple projects weekly. Must be a self-starter.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have good communication and interpersonal skills (written and oral) while being able to work constructively with numerous clients.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
