POSITION: Foreman II
DEPARTMENT: Mechanical

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICANTS

DUTIES: The Forman II is responsible to supervise and direct employees to safely perform duties of cleaning, servicing, and inspecting locomotives and passenger cars in accordance with FRA/Amtrak guidelines and standards. Coordinate the movement, inspection, testing, servicing and repair of cars and locomotives in compliance with CFR49 and Amtrak standards. Ensures compliance with FDA, OSHA, EPA, and EEO guidelines. Monitor staffing needs, inspection repairs, running logs, MAP forms, and timely submission of Quality Assurance reports. Counsel and motivate employees. Maintain log of inbound/outbound coaches and locomotives, schedules and time cards. Conduct daily safety meetings in an effort to observe, correct and train staff as related to safety. Ensure maintenance of inventory by ordering materials and equipment as needed. Work within the guidelines of Amtrak's System Safety Program.

EDUCATION: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer Technical schooling, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have demonstrated supervisory skills, including leadership and team building. Must be able to read/interpret schematics and blue prints.

Prefer: Thorough knowledge of pipefitting, electric, mechanical and laborer job duties. Working knowledge of oxygen acetylene, Tig, Mig, and Stick welding. FRA 238 certified. Prior satisfactory job performance is required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Understand and working knowledge of equipment/systems specifications, work crane, and power tool operations. Maintain a general understanding of railroad operations.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
