Position Title: Lead Payroll Clerk
Department: Payroll Operations (Ivy City)

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICANTS


SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Handle telephone inquiries relating to employee entitlements and pay problems. Sort and distribute payroll checks and timesheets, prepare voucher requests and place stop payment requests. Respond to written and oral inquiries from internal and external sources. Conduct weekly audits of timekeeping records to detect payroll discrepancies, document findings and follow up on corrections. Update Federal, State and Local taxes. Review unreported reports to identify missing time documents. Coordinate efforts with HR to ensure accuracy of the SAP employee database. Provide administrative support to the Financial Analyst at the Ivy City Payroll office. Preserve confidentiality of payroll information. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Prefer some courses in Accounting.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Some experience as a Payroll Clerk or Payroll Partner using MySAP (SAP 6.0). Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of Union Contracts.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have excellent attendance record and satisfactory prior job performance. Must be able to work overtime without advance notice. Minimum 10,000 key strokes per hour required.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have effective oral and written communication skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

TRAVEL: None.

SALARY RANGE: $17.75 - $23.67 plus .50 cents per hour differential per Union Agreement
