POSITION: Senior Engineer - Design Structures
DEPARTMENT: Engineering

SALARY: $72,000 - $90,000

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICANTS
DUTIES: Direct and coordinate bridge and structures inspections for the purpose of developing rehabilitation plans; design bridge repair plans; provide technical expertise and practical guidance to field inspectors, supervisors and managers relating to bridge and structural deficiencies; evaluate competence level(s) of inspection personnel and provide appropriate education/instruction on procedures, structural behavior, condition evaluation and deficiencies prioritization; perform bridge and structures inspection on structures found to have structural deficiency; evaluate condition of structure and determine required repair; prepare detailed structural designs and engineering calculations, including use of acceptable analysis methods and applicable software; calculate structural requirements to conform to AREMA, AASHTO, AISC, ACI, and/or BOCA Code.
EDUCATION: Must have a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering and a Professional Engineer's Registration. Master's Degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have demonstrated railroad bridge experience; demonstrated experience in structural design; competency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and AutoCAD. Prefer demonstrated experience managing bridge repairs, understanding of design codes, specifications and recommended practice. Prior satisfactory job performance is required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Experience in effective technical presentations.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Indirectly supervises 18 supervisors and inspectors.
