POSITION: Assistant Superintendent - Components
DEPARTMENT: Mechanical

RATE OF PAY: $82,000 - $105,000

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICANTS

DUTIES: Responsible for directing the operation of the Wilmington Maintenance Facility Component Shops, specifically the Wheel and Electric Shops. Responsible for communicating specific goals through a chain of command consisting of two (2) management employees and 10 union supervisors. The requirements of the position include but are not limited to organizing, leading and controlling large numbers of mechanics, laborers, and technicians using large and small production resources and direct their efficient use while conforming to safety and regulatory requirements. Must assemble and execute a budget based on production plans.

EDUCATION: Must have an Associates Degree in Engineering, Administration, or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or work experience. Prefer B.S. Degree in Engineering, Administration, Economics, or Accounting, or the completion of a multi-year railway shop craft apprenticeship.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have experience in project and materials management, quality control, and collective bargaining agreements. Experience in managing a production shop and an understanding of FRA rules.

PREFFERED WORK EXPERIENCE: Knowledge and experience in railway or rail transit rolling stock. Also, knowledge and experience with AAR and FDA Regulations.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be innovative, with a good imagination, problem solving skills, and flexibility. Also must be physically able to perform the work assigned. Prior satisfactory job performance is required.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must possess excellent written and communication skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 2 direct and 131 indirect

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 5%
