POSITION: Equipment Engineer

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICANTS
DUTIES: Oversees and directs the safe operation, maintenance and repair of scheduled and unscheduled issues on Track Laying System (TLS) consist of Roadway Equipment. Plans, assembles materials, schedules and implements overhaul programs for appropriate equipment. Oversees and directs the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of scheduled Track Laying Machine (TLM) roadway equipment during the installation of concrete ties and rail and equipment used in conjunction with tie installation on the Northeast Corridor. Develops and implements job specific work plans and ensures procedures are written and updated as conditions dictate. Ensure adequate materials are available for repair to equipment as necessary without impact to railroad operations. Also assists in the development of a strong safety program for repairman. Plan preventive maintenance and overhauls of TLM consist of Roadway Equipment Plan, order, and inventory required complement of spare parts. Schedule and assign running repairs as needed to TLM equipment.
EDUCATION: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have experience in engines (gas & diesel) hydraulics and pneumatic systems. Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of roadway equipment. Preferred experience: Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of roadway equipment. Candidate will be required to supervise other teams.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidate will be required to supervise other teams. Must be capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions. Position is subject to call outs 24/7. Prior satisfactory job performance is required.
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must be computer literate and possess good communication skills.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct: 7 BMWE Agreement.
TRAVEL: 80%.
