INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICANTS
DUTIES: This position is responsible for updating and keeping current the Engineering Infrastructure Information Management Database (EIMD) with network / R.O.W. reconfigurations and additions for the Track Department. The incumbent will interface with Track Design and other departments to collect asset data, and using various software tools, corporate the changes into the EIMD.
Identify network changes from Bulletin Orders, General Notices, General Orders / Timetable Changes, Track Design plans, as-built drawings and other sources. Collect and process asset data using portable GPS equipment. Field-verify data where necessary.
Process data using LiDAR Survey post-processing software, CAD software and GIS software in preparation for import into EIMD. Convert data from various formats DXF, DWG, DNG, Raster, Shape Files, Text, Spreadsheets, Database, etc., and import data into CAD, GIS, and LiDAR software.
Respond to internal and external requests to provide asset data in various formats as required. Perform analysis and prepare reports for internal and external customers based on asset data.
EDUCATION: Must have a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training. Prefer a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
WORK EXPRIENCE: Must have 3 - 5 years work experience in a data processing environment which includes experience with CAD, GIS, and LiDAR post processing software. Prefer demonstrated work experience in track design including field data collection and layout. Experience using Flip7 software.
Must have knowledge of Railroad Infrastructure. Demonstrated experience with Windows-based PC applications - MS Office, Excel, Access, file management / utilities, email, etc.
Prior satisfactory job performance is required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Experience with MS SQL Server. Ability to work independently and produce accurate results through attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
