INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICANTS
DUTIES: This position is responsible for inspecting, testing, installation, maintenance and repairing electrical circuits and appliances used on locomotives or cars such as HVAC, transformers, generators and associated drive systems, door circuits, lighting and heating. Must be able to troubleshoot using schematics and multimeters. Inspect, test qualify and make repairs to all AC/DC motors. Basic knowledge of electronic work is necessary, including identification, removal and installation of electronic cards.
EDUCATION: Must have High School Diploma or equivalent. Prefer completion of Apprenticeship Program. Technical training in air conditioning and refrigerant is preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have demonstrated electrician experience. Must be familiar with all passenger equipment, all required tools, various machinery, work sites and situations. Prefer demonstrated experience in the railroad industry or electrical apprenticeship. Prior satisfactory job performance is required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to follow instructions from supervision and be able to perform with a minimum amount of supervision. Willing to work varied hours, weekends and holidays.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have good oral communication skills. Must be able to read and speak the English language and also be able to work in a team environment.
