SALARY RANGE: $80,000 - $105,000

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL APPLICANTS

DUTIES: The Director, ED is responsible for planning and monitoring the development and delivery of training programs that satisfy regulatory requirements, improve performance, service delivery and assure the safety of employees and customers. Provides leadership and direction for all activities related to the delivery of training, associated budgets & administration requirements. Responsible for identifying and coordinating employee development needs through appropriate analysis in cooperation with all operating departments and labor leadership. Responsible for the quality of classroom and hands-on instruction as well as instructor development. Fosters interpersonal relationships, guides and supports members of the organization in achieving plan goals within budget constraints.

EDUCATION: Must have a Bachelors degree in Education, Instructional Design or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience.

Prefer advanced degree in Education, Business or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or work experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have knowledge of railroad operations, staffing practices, infrastructure, and state and federal regulatory training requirements. Knowledge of Adult Learning Theory, instructional course design and methods of needs analysis. Demonstrated experience in managing a corporate training function preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated ability to conduct effective training. Demonstrated financial analysis skills. Experience in the supervision of agreement and non-agreement employees. Prior satisfactory job performance required.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Prefer experience working in a team environment, including staff and labor leaders.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 16

TRAVEL: 25 %

COMMENTS: This position has responsibility for new hire programs and associated curriculum for assistant passenger conductors, on board services and station employees as well as other developmental programs for employees in the Transportation Department.
