POSITION: Principal Officer Process Engineering
DEPARTMENT: Mechanical
SALARY: $70,000 - $90,000

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL APPLICANTS

DUTIES: Accountable for instituting the application of the basic principles of ownership, measurement and continuous improvement through teamwork for Amtrak Mechanical Maintenance processes in High Speed Rail. Closely supports the Master Mechanic as the business process owner to ensure efficient management of all process activities. Continuously evaluates monitors and recommends improvements to his/her assigned process. Responsible for the sound application of process engineering principles in developing recommendations to improve the efficiency, productivity, and/or quality of the process. Assists the process Owner in formulating the process strategy including key measurements and resources allocation. Coordinates closely and effectively with the other process Engineers, along with other Mechanical line managers and staff to meet the process and overall Mechanical Departments goals and objectives.

EDUCATION: Must have Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or related field or equivalent combinations of skills, experience and education.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have demonstrated experience and documented success in achieving productivity and/or quality improvements through process engineering.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Prefer Demonstrated experience with process improvements activities involving railroading rolling stock maintenance.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be a creative problem solver with strong quantitative and time management skills.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have excellent written and good oral communication skills. Ability to generate high quality written reports &deliver presentations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 30%
